METHOD FOR MAKING FERROALLOYS AND A DUPLEX FURNACE FOR CARRYING OUT SAID METHOD

The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy. The inventive duplex furnace for making ferroalloys comprises a first chamber (1) for melting a charge and reducing oxides, which chamber is provided with a gas exhaust opening (5), a lower (2) and an upper (3) tuyer rows and a bottom (6) with a metal discharge channel (7). The duplex furnace comprises a second chamber (8) which is provided with an electrode (9), openings (14) for loading a carbonaceous deoxidizer in the form of the layer thereof and with channels (10) for discharging cast products. The duplex furnace comprises means (11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18) for the melt overflow from the first chamber onto the carbonaceous deoxidizer layer in the second chamber. The furnace is provided with means (13, 19, 20, 21) for removing gas from under the second chamber roof to the first chamber. The inventive method involves melting a charge in the first chamber, reducing oxides in such a way that the thermodynamic hardness thereof is lower than that of manganese protoxide, discharging metals onto the carbonaceous deoxidizer layer heated to a temperature of 1850-2200°C in the second chamber in which the oxides are reduced in such a way that the thermodynamic hardness thereof becomes equal to or greater than the manganese protoxide hardness. The invention makes it possible to increase the yield of main elements, to reduce the energy vectors consumption and to decrease harmful substance emission.
