<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an asymmetrical cyanine dye having excellent permeability, selectivity and affinity to a nucleic acid. <P>SOLUTION: The asymmetrical cyanine dye comprises a substituted benzazolium ring system linked to a pyridinium or quinolium ring system by methine bridge, for example, exemplified by the formula. The dye has high sensitivity to oligonucleotides and larger nucleic acid polymers in a wide range of cells and gels, and is useful for analysis of cell structures, cell membrane destruction or cell functions, and for determination of cell cycle distribution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
