The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing lithium-vanadium oxides and a method for manufacturing mixtures of a lithium-vanadium oxide and at least one electrically conducting material. The invention further relates to the use of lithium-vanadium oxides or mixtures of a lithium-vanadium oxide and at least one electrically conducting material for producing cathodes for batteries and in electrochemical cells. Also, the invention relates to cathodes that contain a lithium-vanadium oxide or a mixture of a lithium-vanadium oxide and at least one electrically conducting material.
