The cover consists of a hinge-like flap connected to an inner cladding section, which pivots from a neutral position to an open position. A living hinge (9) is provided along the hinge-like connection (7) between the flap and the cladding section (i.e. the instrument panel (4)) to reinforce it, and has a curved cross section (10). The living hinge is located on the side of the cover out of view, and has webs (12,13) pointing away from each other which are welded to the flap and cladding part respectively. The attachment of the cladding part is achieved via a reinforcing section (16). At least one rotational axis (11) of the living hinge is located as near as possible to the pivot axis of the hinge-like connection.
