The device (1) has a nozzle device (4) filling a container (10) with a gaseous medium, and a wall body (6) completely surrounding area of the nozzle device in a circumferential direction. A sealing device (8) seals an area (R) between the container and the wall body. The sealing device is pressed against an outer circumference of the container in radial direction. The sealing device has a support section (8a) that extends in a longitudinal direction of the container, where the support section is pressed against a mouth (10a) of the container in the radial direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for expanding containers by a gaseous medium.
