PURPOSE: An ion generating apparatus is provided to control the amount of ions according to a contamination level of a surrounding environment, and to offer sterilization and harmful gas removing effects by generating the ozone through pulse width modulation of power supply. CONSTITUTION: An ion generating apparatus includes an input direct power(100), a sensor signal input part(200), a square wave control part(300), a high voltage generating part(400), and an ion generating part(500). The input direction power supplies DC power. The sensor signal input par outputs a sensing control signal. The square wave control part converts switched DC power into the DC power of high voltage. The ion generating part generates the ions by applying the DC power of high voltage. The ion generation part has an anion generating part(510) and a cation generation part(520).
