<p>The invention is a cap with no attached seal to seal the opening at the mouth of a container. This cap comprises a closure disc around which there is a peripheral skirt sized to fit around the mouth of the container. It also comprises a first circular lip which projects under the closure disc near the mouth opening and which is folded against the mouth of the container towards the opening thereof when the cap is in place, thus preventing any surf effect when the container is moved around. The cap also comprises a circular second lip external to the first and positioned also to be folded against the mouth of the container in the opposite direction to that of the first lip when the cap is in place. This second lip, which projects under the closure disc around the first lip, is provided with a number of protrusions positioned such as to form a number of points of contact with the mouth of the container when the second lip is in the folded position and thus form a number of sealing barriers with a staircase effect. The protrusions, by hugging the shape of the mouth of the container, absorb any surface defects or scratches due to imperfections in the manufacture or accidents in handling.</p> |
