TOOL DIAMETER CORRECTION DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a general-purpose tool diameter correction device for correcting diameter of a cutting blade easily and securely and mounting the device on a machine tool easily; and a tool diameter correction method using the device. SOLUTION: This diameter correction device 50 for a boring bar 1 can displace a blade tip position to the tool diameter direction by rotating a biased sleeve 5. The device 50 is equipped with a clamping device 10 graspingly fixing the biased sleeve 5 and is provided with: a diameter error calculation means determining a difference between a measured working diameter and a preset target diameter; a rotary angle calculation means calculating a rotary angle of relative rotation of the biased sleeve 5 necessary for giving the difference; and a spindle rotation control means correcting the blade tip diameter by rotating the spindle, based on the calculated rotary angle.
