PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated storage and retrieval system capable of sensing whether any object is over the weight or not using a simple and convenient configuration. SOLUTION: The automated storage and retrieval system comprises a rack 2 on which a number of objects storage parts 1 are arranged in the horizontal and vertical directions and a stacker crane 3 to put in and take out the object to/from the storage parts, wherein the stacker crane is equipped with a member 10 to make the elevating and sinking motions, a fork 11 installed on the member 10 in such a way as capable of advancing and retreating in the horizontal direction and admitting loading of the object, and an overweight sensing means 20 which senses the deflection of the fork and judges whether or not the weight of the loaded object lies below the set level.
