<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel red phosphorescent compound that has a skeleton providing more excellent electroluminescent properties compared with properties of existing red phosphorescent materials, and an organic electroluminescent element using the compound. <P>SOLUTION: A novel organic electroluminescent iridium complex compound is represented by chemical formula 1 and is used as a light-emitting material for a light-emitting layer of an organic electroluminescent element in combination with a host material.
