PURPOSE: A system for sealing dummy bar head in a mould of a continuous casting plant for casting large-format preliminary sections is provided to offer the dummy bar packing which is completely sealed up by replacing the packing plate toward the center of the mould. CONSTITUTION: The system for sealing dummy bar head in the mould of the continuous casting plant for casting large-format preliminary sections includes a flat gasket(6) and packing plate. The flat gasket is used to seal the gap between the mould(3) and the dummy bar head. The packing plate is fixed on the dummy bar head. The packing plate has the cross-sectional shape of the mould profile. The packing plate covers the flat gasket. The packing plate is displaced toward the center side of the mould as amount corresponding to the conicity of the mould. The packing plate is made of two half plates(7a, 7b) symmetrically put on one plane. The half plate is displaced to the center side of the mould. The half plate is located as the width of the space corresponding to the conicity of the mould.
