<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight mirror that fasilitates molding of a rib structure and reduces cost thereof, and to provice a method of manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a first foundation base material molding step of obtaining a first plate-like carbon foundation base member 18a by subjecting a foundation base material composed of carbon or composed of a mixed material composed of the carbon and silicon carbide as a principal component to compression molding; a cutting step of obtaining a carbon foundation molding 19 formed by cutting a plurality of recessed holes 5 of a hole direction aligned to a thickness direction of the first carbon foundation base member 18a into to the first carbon foundation base member 18a; a reaction sintering step of obtaining a rib structure 3A by causing reaction sintering of the carbon of the carbon foundation molding 19 with silicon 21 by impregnating the molten silicon 21 to the carbon foundation molding 19; and a step of joining a mirror function part 10A composed of a glass material to one surface of the rib structure 3A by directing the reflection surface outward.
