<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive muffler capable of preventing the positional deviation or peeling of a sound absorbing material by improving drainage in a sound absorbing material storage space while ensuring required adhering strength, and improving an effect of reducing radiation sound from a muffler body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The muffler includes the sound absorbing material 21 having a plane-shape opposite to a muffler body 12 on one surface side, and a cover 22 covering the other surface side of the sound absorbing material 21. The sound absorbing material 21 is adhered to a member on at least one side of the muffler body 12 and the cover 22. The sound absorbing material 21 extends in an axial direction of the muffler body 12, and is adhered to the member 22 or/and 12 on at least one side by a plurality of adhering members 23 separating in an outer peripheral direction of the muffler body 12. Between the muffler body 12 and the cover 22, a sound absorbing space 24 which have a shape of a plurality of passages extending in the axial direction of the muffler body 12 between the plurality of the adhering members 23 is formed.
