A metadata uploading method, device, system and terminal are provided, the method including the following steps: receiving a signal message or a media stream encapsulated with metadata, extracting the metadata from the signal message or the media stream; associating the metadata with the obtained content identifier. The device includes an extracting module for receiving the signal message or the media stream encapsulated with metadata and extracting the metadata from the signal message or the media stream; a first associating module for associating the metadata with the obtained content identifier. The terminal includes a metadata generating unit and a metadata uploading unit. The system includes the terminal and the metadata uploading device. The embodiment solves the problem of uploading metadata in IMS-based IPTV systems.
