PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely correct a posture of a booklet, even in the booklet having the reduced number of paper sheets, when flattening a back part of the bound and folded booklet. SOLUTION: This sheet handling device is provided with a conveying unit 51 for conveying the saddle-stitched and center-folded booklet by a belt pair, and for correcting a shift in the posture of the booklet, a reference member 52 serving as a reference when correcting the shift in the posture of the booklet, a clamping member 53 for holding a tip part (saddle-stitched and center-folded part) of the booklet while clamping it in, and a press roll member 54 for flattening the tip part by moving the tip part of the booklet while pressing it, and the conveying unit 51 drives the belt pair, to pull the booklet with an end part held by the clamping member 53, along a direction opposite to a conveying direction.
