<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that is drivable at a low voltage and has a high display contrast and white display reflectance, and also is reduced in the fluctuation of reflectance with repetitive drive. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The display device has a compound for developing color by oxidation reaction, monopyridinium salt compound, and electrolyte between counter electrodes, and performs a white display and a colored display other than black by drive operation of the counter electrodes.
