<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus, in which a viewing angle can be limited, the depth of the apparatus can be reduced, which is advantageous for reducing the size, however, uneven brightness can be suppressed, and the width of the apparatus can be suppressed, and moreover, even if the view field of a two-dimensional image is increased. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitted from a light source 15 for a right eye, arranged on the side of one focal point f1, enters the entrance face 22 of a blade 20, propagates via an intermediate reflecting face 27 and is reflected at an reflecting face of an elliptical figure, exits from an exit face 23, is transmitted through a transmissive liquid crystal display panel 5 and is condensed to the other focal point f2 of the ellipse 21. Consequently, a view angle can be made to be limited only in a direction of the other focal point f2. The entrance face 22 of the blade 20 is formed as separated from the one focal point f1 of the ellipse 21 and from the major axis (a) of the ellipse 21, which suppresses uneven luminance of the transmissive liquid crystal display panel 5, as seen from a viewpoint that corresponds to the other focal point f2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
