PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast reception device capable of achieving single-speed follow-up reproduction; and a broadcast reception method. SOLUTION: This broadcast reception device is characterized by including: a tuner part 1; a demodulation part 2; a signal processing part 3 dividing the demodulation result into an audio signal part and a video signal part, outputting them by sorting them on one side and outputting both of them on the other side; an audio output part 5 outputting an audio signal part decoded by an audio processing part 4; a video output part 7 outputting a video signal part decoded by a video processing part 6; a silence detection part 8, a CM detection part 9 and a motionless detection part 10 detecting silence, CMs and motionless parts, respectively; a skip determination part 11 setting skip object periods by appropriately combining the results thereof; a skip mark attachment part 12 attaching marks to the skip object periods within the audio signal part and the video signal part; a recording part 13 recording them; and a skip part 14 outputting signals to the signal processing part by skipping the skip object periods.
