An assay and method of use thereof for detecting a biomarker that comprises enriching the fluid fraction containing the biomarker. The fluid fraction is preferably the serum fraction of a whole blood sample. The biomarker is preferably some type of protein, more preferably present in low abundance in a complex sample.
