The gear (100) has a pinion or worm (103) arranged in a gear housing (102). A pre-tensioning unit is provided in order to impact the pinion or worm radially with a pre-tensioning force. The pinion is swivelably supported via a bearing ring that is gimbal-mounted in the gear housing. The bearing ring is designed as a pivot ring (107), which exhibits a swiveling axis (z) that runs orthogonal to a rotational axis (x) of the pinion, and radial effective direction (y) of pre-tensioning force. A rubber-metal-bearing is provided in the gear housing for bearing the pivot ring.
