<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a cargo handling vehicle, such as a forklift truck and a bulldozer, being stolen even with a key inserted into a lock of the vehicle, and to limit operations in case of emergency. <P>SOLUTION: The cargo handling vehicle includes: a storing unit that stores a password; a password input unit; a controller that selectively controls a normal operation mode that does not limit a traveling capability and a cargo handling capability, an emergency operation mode that limits at least the traveling capability of the vehicle, and a travel prohibiting mode selected when neither the normal operation mode nor the emergency operation mode are selected; and an emergency-operation-mode directing unit. The controller determines whether input of the password is required or not when the vehicle is powered up, and selectively controls the normal operation mode when the input of the password is not required and also when the input password matches the password stored in the storing unit, selectively controls the emergency operation mode when an emergency-operation-mode direction is issued by the emergency-operation-mode directing unit, and also selective controls the travel prohibiting mode when neither the normal operation mode nor the emergency operation mode are selected within a predetermined period of time or a predetermined number of manipulations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
