PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet type motor which is excellent in the aspect of torque generation and the aspect of vibration and noise by bringing the distribution of the magnetic flux density in the air gap between a rotor core and a stator close to sine waves as much as possible. SOLUTION: In an outer rotation type permanent magnet motor, each magnetic pole face 25, which opposes a stator (refer to the outermost diameter line K of a stator), lying at each magnetic pole part 19 corresponding to the permanent magnet 14 of the rotor core 12, is composed of a first face 26 which is made at the roughly center in the circumferential direction of the magnetic pole and is in the shape of a circular face the length of an air gap between which and the stator is roughly constant, and second and third faces 27 and 28 which are made on both sides in the circumferential direction of this first face 26 and are in the shape of a circular face the length of an air tap between which and the stator becomes larger the more it goes to the boundary of the magnetic pole. Therefore, the magnetic flux density in the air gap between the rotor iron core 12 and the stator can be brought close to sine waves as much as possible. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
