PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an E-mail system capable of confirming whether or not an attachment of E-mail is opened on the side of a transmitter at a reception side terminal which has received the E-mail with the attachment. SOLUTION: The E-mail system 100 stores opening recording information regarding a record that the attached E-mail has been opened on the reception side terminal 300 in an attachment opening storage part 9a. A confirmation E-mail is created on the basis of the opening record information in accordance with detection of start of an opening record transmission program and processing for transmitting the confirmation E-mail to an E-mail address of the transmitter, that is, a transmission side terminal 200. When the transmission side terminal 200 receives the confirmation E-mail, it retrieves an attachment storage part 3a to perform processing for adding, to information on the attachment, the information which indicates that the E-mail has been opened on the assumption that it is notified by the confirmation E-mail that the unopened attachment is now opened.
