Disclosed is a new induction method to effectively produce blood platelets from platelet precursor cells typified by hematopoietic/precursor cells, wherein said blood platelet induction method causes platelet precursor cells to differentiate into blood platelets by culturing platelet precursor cells in a culture medium into which is immersed a special composite membrane comprising a porous thin film that is laminated onto at least one surface of a porous support membrane.
