A key control device of a portable terminal is provided to magnify convenience of an interface by using mechanical general keys and contact-type touch keys comprised in two key input units, respectively, and to perform a scroll function through at least one sensor comprised in the key input units, thereby realizing a user's convenience. A first key input unit(210) consists of at least one of contact-type touch keys(211-214) for performing corresponding functions, at least one of mechanical general keys(215), and at least one of sensors(171-178) for performing scroll functions as sensing contact of the one of the touch keys(211-214). The second key input unit includes at least one mechanical general key for executing corresponding functions or functions corresponding to the keys(211-214,215) disposed in the first key input unit(210).
