A vertical pump is provided to prevent leakage of fluid along a drive shaft using an air pocket and a centrifugal plate, thereby improving durability of the pump. A vertical pump includes an impeller(110), a drive shaft(120), a casing(130), a sealing member(140), an air pocket(150), a centrifugal plate(160), and an oil tank(170). The impeller sucks and discharge fluid using a centrifugal force. The drive shaft is installed at the casing to vertically extend from an upper part of the impeller. The sealing member is installed at an interface between the drive shaft and the casing. The air pocket is installed at the casing to surround the drive shaft. The centrifugal plate is installed at the drive shaft to be rotated with the drive shaft. The oil tank prevents air in an air chamber from being discharged through the interface and the sealing member.
