PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide downsizing of an electric power steering device equipped with a torque detector by shortening an axial direction dimension of the torque detector. SOLUTION: The torque detector 3 includes: a connecting shaft 2c which connects an input shaft 2a (a second shaft) and an output shaft 2b (a first shaft); a permanent magnet 31a fixed at the output shaft 2b; a plurality of a magnetic material 32a and an auxiliary magnetic material 33a, which are fixed to the input shaft 2a and form a magnetic circuit; and a magnetic flux detector 34a detecting the magnetic flux. The torque detector 3 detects the torque, based on the detected output of the magnetic flux detector 34a, when the torque acts on the input shaft 2a. The permanent magnet 31a has a form of a flat annular shape body surrounding the output shaft 2b. The magnetic material 32a has the plurality of flat nail parts 32d arranged so as to face as plane oppositely at one side of the shaft direction of the permanent magnet 31a. A part of a circumference part 32e of the magnetic material 32a is arranged outside of the radial direction of the permanent magnet 31a.
