PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein even if an image forming apparatus goes into sleeping state once, returns to operating state from the sleeping state, immediately by an input of a job, with the result that sufficient power-saving effect cannot be obtained. SOLUTION: For a job instructed to print urgently, the image forming apparatus applies an immediate print mark and performs printing, immediately. For a job instructed to print by a certain time, the image forming apparatus applies a printing time limit mark, and performs printing, when the printing time limit has reached. Jobs without such marks are put on standby; in printing for a job marked to use the immediate printing function or printing to be carried out due to the reach of the printing time limit, printing for a job on standby is subsequently carried out; and this reduces transitions between the sleeping state and operating state, thereby saving power.
