<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine capable of preventing the input of excessive voltage from a regulator even if an expensive regulator is not used, and when a battery runs out. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an igniter 40, a voltage keeping condenser 43 is provided for a voltage input terminal 40a to which DC voltage produced by the regulator 20 is input. The DC voltage input from the regulator 20 to the voltage input terminal 40a is increased by predetermined voltage and is kept thereby. This prevents reference voltage from being substantially lost in the regulator 20, and output voltage is made to keep a constant value even when engine rotation speed is increased.
