A water softener is provided to improve the efficiency in softening of raw water and extend the lifetime of ion exchange resin, by dividing a water-softening tank into four water-softening regions each filled with the ion exchange resin. A water softener is composed of a reproducing tank(60), a pretreatment filter tank(30), and a water-softening tank(40). The water softener changes raw water into softened water by using ion exchange resin, and discharges the softened water. A flowmeter(24) is installed on a raw water supply pipe(20), into which raw water is inputted through a water input port(21). The water-softening tank is divided into plural water-softening regions(42a-42d), wherein each of the softening tanks is filled with the ion exchange resin. A driver(100) supplies the input water to respective water-softening regions. A controller(300) controls the driver.
