PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a nanofiber having narrow distribution of diameters and a small average diameter by an electrospinning method. SOLUTION: When producing the nanofiber by the electrospinning method including filling a syringe 2 with a spinning solution 1 comprising a polyimide soluble in a solvent and the solvent, and applying a D.C. high voltage ranging from several kV to several ten kV between a needle-type electrode 3 and a collector electrode 4, a salt, e.g. a quaternary ammonium salt such as tetrabutylammonium bromide and benzyltriethylammonium chloride is added to the spinning solution so as to be contained therein, and the electrospinning is carried out. When the tetrabutylammonium bromide, the benzyltriethylammonium chloride or the like is used as the salt, preferably 0.05-0.5 wt.%, more preferably 0.05-0.2 wt.% thereof is contained in the spinning solution.
