<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of developing a photosensitive material, which can provide a substantially uniform development silver image free from transverse unevenness without causing silver contamination, flaw, film peeling or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An in-liquid turn bar 28A disposed in a developing tank 16 is set to discharge developer from plural slit-shaped discharge openings 36 of a first cylindrical member 34 such that a discharge rate of the developer per 1 m of the photosensitive material turning member is from 50 to 200 l/min (litter/minute). Regulating plates 42 protruding from a surface of the first cylindrical member 34 are provided at both transverse ends of the first cylindrical member 34. The amount of the developer discharged from both transverse ends of a photosensitive web 12 is controlled by the regulating plates 42, thereby adjusting a gap between the first cylindrical member 34 and the photosensitive web 12. Accordingly, the gap between the photosensitive web 12 and the in-liquid turn bar 28A is substantially uniform in a transverse direction, and thus the photosensitive web 12 is turned without contact with the in-liquid turn bar 28A.
