PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position prediction device for predicting how the tip of a tool is moved against a workpiece when unit movement strokes are carried out during arc interpolation. SOLUTION: The position prediction device calculates an estimated position reached by an actual foot in a direction viewing a target position from the center of a reference circle of an established track when completing the unit movement strokes while the tool is relatively moved against the workpiece so that the foot of a perpendicular line dropped from the tip of the tool to a reference surface can move during machining by a plurality of unit movement strokes along an established arc track of the reference surface. Also, the position prediction device comprises a unit movement information receiving means for receiving unit movement information; a target position direction calculating means for calculating a direction of the target position of the foot viewed from the center of the reference circle; an imaginary track identifying means for identifying a predicted imaginary track of the foot; and a predicted position identifying means for identifying, from the direction calculated by the target position direction calculating means, where the foot exists on the imaginary track and calculating the predicted position of the foot.
