The vehicle (1) has a display (5) for representation of variable information, and a control panel (4) spatially separated from the display. The control panel has two control elements for operating a function such as navigation function, of a motor vehicle. A display controller displays an image of the control panel in a display region formed in the display, where the image of the control panel is aligned depending on direction of a hand of an operator on the panel. The control panel is integrated into a center console (3) and arranged beside a driver's seat (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor vehicle with a display.
