#CMT# #/CMT# Polyalkylenediguanidines (I) and their organic or mineral salts are new. #CMT# : #/CMT# Polyalkylenediguanidines of formula C(R 1R 1a)(NR 2R 2a)=N-A-N=C(R 3R 3a)(NR 4R 4a) (I) and their organic or mineral salts are new. Either R 1-R 4, R 1a-R 4aH or 1-6C hydrocarbon; or R 1R 2, R 3R 4-(CH 2) 2-, -(CH 2) 3-, -(CH 2) 4- or -CH=CH-; A : hydrocarbon chain, interrupted by -O-, comprising -CH(CH 3)-CH 2-(O-CH 2-C(CH 3)) x-(O-CH 2-CH 2) y-(O-CH 2-C(CH 3)) z-; and x, y, z : 0-40. Provided that the sum of x, y and z is 2-45. Independent claims are included for: (1) a composition comprising (I) in a medium; (2) a kit comprising at least two compartments, one of the compartments comprising the cosmetic composition; and (3) a process of straightening keratinous fibers comprising applying the cosmetic composition for a duration of less than 60 minutes. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# (I) is useful as an active agent for straightening keratinous fibers, i.e. for hair straightening (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# (I) is less aggressive to skin and scalp and is stable. #CMT#PHARMACEUTICALS : #/CMT# Preferred Composition: The medium present in the composition is water or a mixture of water and a solvent. The composition comprises water at 0-50 wt.%, preferably 0-20 wt.% or 80-99 wt.%, preferably 85-95 wt.%. The composition comprises the polymer (I) at 0.1-2 mol/l, preferably 0.2-1 mol/l. The composition has a pH of 9.6-14, preferably 11-13. The composition comprises a hydroxide. The composition comprises 0 wt.% of base belonging to the hydroxide family, compared to the total weight of the composition. The composition comprises a reducing agent. The composition comprises non-ionic, anionic, cationic or amphoteric surfactant and non-ionic, anionic, cationic or amphoteric treating agent. The composition comprises adjuvants comprising soluble, dispersed or microdispersed silicone, ceramides, glycoceramides and pseudo-ceramides, vitamins and pro-vitamins, vegetable, animal, mineral and synthetic oils, waxes other than ceramides, glycoceramides and pseudo-ceramides, water-soluble and liposoluble (non)silicone sunscreens, pearling agents and opacifiers, chelating agents, plasticizers, solubilizing agents, acidifying agents, minerals and organic thickeners, antioxidants, hydroxy acids, penetration agents, perfumes and preservatives. The kit comprises a second compartment comprising an additional composition of care, conditioning, makeup, makeup removing, protection, cleaning or washing keratinous fibers. Preferred Process: The duration of hair straightening is less than 40 minutes, preferably less than 30 minutes. The hair is subjected to heat treatment of 30-60[deg] C after the application of the composition.
