PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device exhibiting enhanced response speed and improved visibility and liquid crystal molecules used for the display. SOLUTION: The liquid display device is a liquid crystal 310 display device involving a liquid crystal layer 300 which contains liquid crystal molecules and exists between a first display plate provided with pixel electrodes and a countering second display plate and expressed by the chemical formula 5 (wherein, G, G', H, H', etc. are linking groups expressed by -CF<SB>2</SB>O-, etc.; X is a halogen; I and I' are alkoxy groups, etc.).
