<p>A seal assembly 32 for sealing a clearance gap between a boundary 47 of an aperture 36, formed in a housing 30a,30b, and a member 34 extending through the aperture 36. The seal assembly 32 has a seal member 42 and a mounting means 44 disposed around the seal member 42 and engages the aperture boundary 37. The mounting means 44 seals an alignment interspace G provided in a clearance gap between the seal member 42 and aperture boundary 47. The mounting means 44 permits the seal member 42 to be located at a position relative to the aperture boundary 47 in dependence upon the relative positions of the member 34 and aperture boundary 47 to accommodate misalignment between the member 34 and aperture boundary 47. The mounting means 44 locks the seal member 42 relative to the aperture boundary 47.</p> |
