<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Japanese clothes folding device and folding method capable of simply folding Japanese clothes without spreading the Japanese clothes on a floor and allowing its storage in a wardrobe. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This Japanese clothes folding device includes: suspension parts provided in a pair of right/left arm rods that are configured to be folded forward from a shaft part and extend to the length of a substantially shoulder width respectively; clamps for clamping the front body section of the Japanese clothes provided in front faces of the right/left suspension parts; and a recessed part upward opened with a shaft part defined as a starting point. The Japanese clothes are folded using the Japanese clothes folding device. The right/left arm rods are inserted into the inside of the Japanese clothes, and appropriate portions of the right/left front body sections of the Japanese clothes are clamped by the clamp to fold the right/left arm rods forward and fold the back collar forward along the recessed part. The right/left sleeves of the Japanese clothes are superposed on the back body section, and the body section of the Japanese clothes is doubled up to superpose the collar on the sleeves.
