<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix display apparatus capable of minimizing an amount of a current supplied to an organic EL element by reducing the generation of a flicker even in a video of high display luminance. <P>SOLUTION: The active matrix display apparatus includes: a plurality of pixels PX arranged in a matrix on a substrate; a signal line driving section 101 for supplying signals corresponding to image signals to pixels; a selecting scanning line driving section 130 for selecting pixels per line; a dimming scanning line driving section 140 for connecting and disconnecting light emission currents in the display elements of pixels; lighting rate calculating sections (121, 122) each calculating a lighting rate based on the video signal; and a control section (123) for controlling connecting/disconnecting light emission currents in the display elements of pixels per line based on the lighting rate. The control section forms two or more band-like non-lighting areas (301) in which the supply of light emission current to successive n lines of pixels is stopped. In addition, the control section moves the non-lighting areas by one line of pixels at a time in synchronization with a horizontal synchronous signal, thereby increasing or decreasing the n lines according to an increase or decrease of the lighting rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
