Disclosed are a traffic information service method, which can enable a user to easily receive desired traffic information, and a traffic information service system using the same. The traffic information service method provides traffic information through a smart terminal. The traffic information service method comprises the steps of: allowing the smart terminal to connect to a wireless communication unit mounted on any transportation means A and to receive basic information about the transportation means A; and allowing the smart terminal to display the traffic information of the transportation means A including the route information of the transportation means A by using the basic information about the transportation means A. As such, a user can easily check the traffic information of the transportation means A only by connecting the smart terminal to the wireless communication unit (100) mounted on the transportation means A.
