<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor type air conditioner capable of improving performance of a body while reducing the dimensions of the body, and having good design. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A suction grille 3 is disposed on a body front section, a suction opening 15 is formed on a back section, a heat exchanger 18 is disposed on one of upper and lower parts inside of the body, and a back motor 10 and a back fan 11, and a front motor 12 and a front fan 13 are disposed at the other side. The back motor and the back fan, and the front motor and the front fan are separated by a partitioning plate 9 to form independent air circuits. As a suction area is increased by addition of the suction opening from the back, and an area of a suction opening of the suction grille section as a design section of a front face can be reduced, a degree of freedom in design can be improved. Further as the independent wind circuits are formed, the distribution of air volume supplied to the longitudinal direction of the heat exchanger can be almost unified, so that heat exchanging efficiency can be improved.
