<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation device for a vehicle installable in a small area, can correctly perform a plurality of operations by rotating an operation member around a rotary shaft along a design surface and sliding it along the rotary shaft, and surely perform the operations while holding the operation member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This operation device 12 consists of a cylindrical section 26 arranged rotatably around the shaft 14 substantially in parallel with an inclined surface 11A and rotating by the operation of a knob 20, and a body 16 substantially in a cylindrical shape held by a holding section 15 at its both ends in a longitudinal direction in a manner of covering the cylindrical section 26. The body 16 is provided with a gap enough for letting the hand of an occupant enter therein between the inclined surface 11A and itself by leaving a prescribed clearance from the inclined surface 11A. The cylindrical section 26 is configured to be rotatable by operating the knob 20 in a circumferential direction, which is arranged in the outside end in the radial direction of the cylindrical section 26.
