2,6-Pyrazine bridged transition metal carbene complex (I), is new. 2,6-Pyrazine bridged transition metal carbene complex of formula (I), is new. M : transition metal, preferably a transition metal of the VIII subgroup of the periodic system of elements; Hal : halide comprising Cl, Br or I; L : mono or bidentate ligand; R1 : phenyl or 7-12C-arylalkyl (both optionally substituted) or 1-12C-alkyl; either R2, R3 : H; or R2R3 : optionally substituted phenyl ring; and n : 1-3.
