<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold evaluation about a partial area of a photographic image through a simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: Partial areas in the image are specified, and rating information showing, for example, failures or successes in photography is set by partial areas and is recorded, associated with the image. For example, a digital camera reads the image from a recording medium and reproduces the image, with a part of the image being enlarged and displayed by using zoom function. The enlarged and displayed partial area is specified as an object to be given the rating information.
