PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device can perform deceleration control or acceleration control at a timing suitable for preference of each driver. SOLUTION: The control device calculates an evaluation index KdB_c indicating a corrected approach/separation condition during travel of a subject vehicle and stores the evaluation index KdB_c together with an inter-vehicle distance D at calculation with respect to each driver in a memory device 60. The control device further calculates, for each distance, a maximum value of the evaluation index KdB_c stored for each driver (S10), and determines a relational equation between the distance D to a preceding vehicle and the maximum value of the evaluation index KdB_c for each distance (S20) based on the maximum value. The control device determines, by correcting the relational equation, a speed control start determination equation for calculating a threshold value to determine whether or not it is the performance start timing of the acceleration/deceleration control.
