<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilation device for a building using a synthetic resin siding, in particular, having irregularities on its external wall surface, and with which mounting and detaching of a louver and a net body of a ventilation device installed at a high place is safely and smoothly performed, and its mounting method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This ventilation device for a building is composed of a base directly mounted on a base sheet, an outdoor hood 1 detachably mounted on the base, and the louver 7 locked to the outdoor hood 1. The outdoor hood 1 is provided with a locking step part 6 for the louver 7 along peripheral wall faces of the inner side faces of an opening part 5 on its base side. The mounting method of the ventilation device for a building uses the ventilation device mentioned above. The louver 7 is pushed into the opening part 5 of the outdoor hood 1 on the base side and locked by the locking step part 6 provided along the four peripheral wall faces of the inner side faces of the opening part 5, and thereafter, the outdoor hood 1 is fitted in the base.
