<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always perform memory access with optimum timing by matching an operation state of a semiconductor memory with an operation state of a memory controller. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor memory transmits a first read-out strobe signal used for taking-in of first read-out data to the memory controller based on read-out request from the memory controller. The semiconductor memory outputs a second read-out strobe signal used for taking-in of second read-out data to the memory controller based on a read-out strobe signal output from the memory controller based on the first read-out strobe signal. The read-out data can be output from the memory to the memory controller always with optimum timing by transferring the strobe signal for each output of read-out data between the semiconductor memory and the memory controller.
