<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a station-side apparatus which achieves connections between a single subscriber terminal and a plurality of Internet service providers (ISPs) while applying IEEE802.1x authentication. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A station-side apparatus comprises: an authentication processing section 13 in which, when a subscriber terminal desires a connection to an ISP, authentication information to be used for authentication processing of the connection with the ISP is acquired from the subscriber terminal and the acquired information is used to carry out IEEE802.1x authentication, thereby determining whether or not the subscriber terminal can be connected to the ISP; a connection management section 14 which correspondingly manages management information of the subscriber terminal and the ISP in the case where it is determined that the subscriber terminal can be connected; and an L2SW11 for transferring a received MAC frame in accordance with the information managed by the connection management section 14.
