<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device capable of adjusting the position of an optical fiber and the position of a lens while retaining a lens holder and an optical fiber holder to each other without using joint by means of laser welding, adhesive, soldering or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical device 1, which condenses incident light to an optical fiber 18 via the lens 7 or turns the light from the optical fiber 18 into parallel light to emit the parallel light, is composed of the lens holder 11 that retains the lens 7 and the optical fiber holder 13 that retains the optical fiber 18. One side of the lens holder 11 and the optical fiber holder 13 comprises a ferromagnetic material in which spontaneous magnetization is induced and the other side comprises a ferromagnetic material or a paramagnetic material with high permeability. The lens holder 11 and the optical fiber holder 13 are adhered to each other by magnetic force and further are mechanically fixed to each other with a fixing member.
