<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a PDP in which an aging time can be shortened. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the PDP in which the front face plate 10 equipped with a display electrode 12, a dielectric layer 13, and a protective film 15 on the front face glass substrate 11, and the rear face plate 20 equipped with a data electrode 22, an undercoat dielectric layer 23, a barrier rib 24, and a phosphor layer 25 on the rear face glass substrate 21 are oppositely arranged via a discharging space 30, since it has a surface treatment process in which the surface of the protective film 15 formed on the front face plate 10 is removed down to the depth of 20 to 60 nm, and the surface treatment process, an alignment process, and a sealing process are carried out in an atmosphere in which water content is controlled, the PDP aging time can be shortened largely, and manufacturing of the highly productive and power saving PDP can be achieved.
